The SCCA recognizes that individuals who join and/or make donations, as well as visitors to its web site, may be concerned about the personal information they provide and how the SCCA treats that information. The SCCA respects your privacy and complies with applicable privacy legislation, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Effective January 1, 2004, PIPEDA and applicable provincial legislation established certain principles for the collection, use and disclosure of personal information in Canada. In response to privacy concerns and this legislation, the SCCA has developed this Privacy Policy, which may be updated from time to time.

The SCCA is committed to protecting individual privacy, and we want to explain why we may ask for your personal information and how we will use it. We only collect personal information that you voluntarily and knowingly provide to us. That information is used to maintain our relationship and contacts with you, and to provide you with ongoing service. Information collected enables us to process your membership application and donations, and confirm your identity and address so we can accurately receipt your donation. When you inquire about our programs, visit our website, contact our office, join the SCCA, or make a donation, the SCCA may have collected some or all of the following personal information from you: your name, address, telephone number, email address and/or facsimile number, and credit card or banking information.

Personal information gathered by the SCCA is fully protected and treated as strictly confidential. Safeguards are in place to ensure that information received is not disclosed or shared more widely than necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was obtained. The SCCA also takes measures to ensure that the integrity of this information is maintained and to prevent it from being lost or destroyed.

The SCCA keeps its supporters informed of its activities and donor opportunities by mailing and/or emailing occasional newsletters and updates. In addition, the SCCA may send notices of member group events, requests for action, or requests for assistance with campaigns. If you do not wish to receive such notices, or if you do not want the SCCA to use or disclose your information for the purpose of providing you with information that may be of interest, please contact us at the address below. Also, please notify us if you wish to update your information. If you do not notify us of your preferences, the SCCA will consider that you have consented to the continued use, disclosure and retention of your information for the purposes stated above.
